Deacon David Losito grew up in the small town of Herkimer, NY. He went on to college at St. Bonaventure University graduating with a degree in Accounting in 1980. After some time in public accounting he has worked primarily in religious organizations with many years of service with the Baptist Convention of New York, the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities and now the New York Conference of the United Church of Christ.
While at St. Bonaventure University he was touched by the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi and felt called to service in the church through the diaconate. That finally became a realization with his ordination to the diaconate in May 2012. His years of service in the church has included chairman of the Parish Council and Finance Committee, RCIA Coordinator, Lector, Eucharistic Minister, Faith Formation teacher, director of PreBaptism and PreMarriage programs and singing in the choir.
His involvement in the parish life at St. Margaret’s Church includes preaching once a month, administering the sacrament of baptism regularly, being deacon at weekend masses, teaching PreBaptism classes and occasionally performing a wedding or assisting in a funeral. He leads a scripture sharing biweekly with his wife Mary at Commonwealth Place for inpatients with drug and/or alcohol addictions. He also leads a monthly communion service at Elderwood Nursing Home.
Deacon David and his wife Mary are the parents of eight children and several grandchildren. They fill their lives with much joy and challenges. You can usually find Deacon David sharing many family stories in his homilies. He definitely feels blessed to have this opportunity of service to the parish family of St. Margaret’s.
