Preparation for Baptism

The Faith Community of St. Margaret’s Parish rejoices and welcomes all children into the family of God. We ask that you please call the rectory at (315) 455-5534 to register your child for the Sacrament of Baptism. Parents will need to attend a Pre-Baptism Class which is held on the last Thursday of every month from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Church. After attending this class, you may choose the Sunday you wish your child to be Baptized. The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated most Sundays at 1:00 p.m. in the Church, or it may be celebrated within the context of a Sunday Liturgy (Saturday Vigil).

Preparation for Confirmation

We welcome you to the Confirmation program here at St. Margaret’s Church.  Our program is open to high school age youth who are registered parishioners of our parish and have completed junior high religious education or attended parochial school. It does not take adult faith and unshakable commitment to celebrate Confirmation.  If you are ready to celebrate your life, your abilities, and whatever courage God has given you to take the next step, then you are ready for Confirmation.  Our program’s goal is to bring the religious education process, which began in the elementary years and deepened in the middle school years, to a maturity level of a fully initiated adult Christian.  An emphasis is placed on understanding the past, living the present, and planning for the future as members of the Catholic Church. Our Confirmation program is a two and a half year commitment.  Most youth enter as freshmen and are confirmed in the fall of their junior year.  Our program is a combination of small group and large group formation.  Beginning in October, our program is held for the first year candidates on the first Sunday of the month, and for the second year candidates, on the second Sunday morning of the month from 10:30 a.m. (Mass) to 1:00 p.m. in St. Margaret’s School.  At least one of the Sundays will be an evening session in which parents are asked to attend with the candidate.
If your high school student is not registered in the Confirmation Program at this time, and you would like to register him/her, please call the Religious Education Office at 315-455-2203.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

Baptism, Confirmation, and First Eucharist for Adults
The RCIA prepares adults to celebrate the sacraments of Christian
Initiation – Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.  Three categories of people are involved in the RCIA process: unbaptized people, people who were baptized in a different Christian tradition and are interested in the Roman Catholic expression of faith, and Catholic people who have not completed Christian initiation. Preparation includes weekly meetings and participation in sacred rites which mark the spiritual progress of the participant.  Generally, these sacraments are celebrated at the Easter Vigil.  During the initial interview, prospective candidates are given an overview of the process, and questions can be answered.  This process facilitates a deepening of the candidate’s relationship to God and the awareness of God’s presence in the world.  Please call the Parish Office at 315-455-5534 for further information or to schedule an initial interview.
